This is a more close-up, realism (for me) #watercolor of the previously burned area farther down 12 towards Kenwood. Different foliage and trees. I parked and painted what was in front of the parking lot. Not a quick sketch, this was over an hour. About 2, actually.

This area was burned in 2017 by the Tubbs Fire. More recovery in the growth.

I don't like buying commercial greeting cards. Water coloring a DYI card is quite satisfying, I hope for the recipient as well.

I followed a YouTube tutorial and really enjoying flicking paint to make the flowers.

#watercolor #watercolour #art #landscape #MastoArt I painted this for #MapCrunch20 and to practice painting foliage. I used a no. 6 for the sky, a no. 1 for the trees and land, and very diluted paint. Colors: Ultramarine, 2 yellows, one red. The brown is a mix of green and red.

This watercolor shows a rural road leading nowhere. Two trees stand on the left in the distance; a larger tree stands on the right. I used it to practice painting foliage, which is difficult for me.

#watercolor #watercolour #art #MastoArt I’ve been trying different methods for painting foliage. Here, I used a no. 1 brush, working in circular motions, alternately dipping in paint or dipping in water to produce deliberate back runs. Colors: Rich Green Gold alone or with Ultramarine or Cobalt Teal. I discovered that using a brush that’s too small gives me texture.

This watercolor shows a cottage surrounded by tall trees. The roof is black, the door is red, and the house is painted white.

I’m just doodling today. I watched a video by Anastasia Mily in which she advocates painting the sky first, seeing what moods it evokes, and then planning your painting from that. Today’s weather was nasty, so I practiced with my sketching kit at home and came up with this. Colors: Cobalt Blue, Cobalt Teal, Quin Rose, Rich Green Gold, Ultramarine. Brushes: no. 1 quill, no. 2 round. The sketchbook is by Tumuarta. #watercolor #watercolour #art #MastoArt

This is my urban sketching kit. The painting is imaginary, a lake with a moody sky.
