I've run out of cerulean blue
Said the artist while painting a view
So, I'll use up my reds Add a dragon instead
And I'll call it 'With Fire She Blew'

Favourite place in the Azores- the botanic gardens in Angra do Heroísmo. Here’s a quick watercolour sketch trying to capture the moment.

Fan-Art commissions are now available on my newly set up ko-fi profile:

As many of you know, I am currently doing a PhD (more here https://mastodon.design/@alx/113272284238735629 ) which is now requiring more attention and time and doesn't allow me to work full-time as a designer as in the past. I'm also on half-scholarship, so I need to find some alternative source of support.

This is a more close-up, realism (for me) #watercolor of the previously burned area farther down 12 towards Kenwood. Different foliage and trees. I parked and painted what was in front of the parking lot. Not a quick sketch, this was over an hour. About 2, actually.
This area was burned in 2017 by the Tubbs Fire. More recovery in the growth.
Working on a new print, Medusas wish. The original is a mixed medium painting made with pencil, charcoal pencil and watercolour, on A3 pressed watercolour paper.
I don't like buying commercial greeting cards. Water coloring a DYI card is quite satisfying, I hope for the recipient as well.
I followed a YouTube tutorial and really enjoying flicking paint to make the flowers.
Just plain fun. Inspired by a tutorial by katiewhiteartist on Instagram, but she does it better. Colors: Cobalt Blue, Spring Green, Sap Green, Paynes Grey. Brushes: quill, rigger. #watercolor #watercolour #art #MastoArt
#watercolour #watercolor #art #painting #MastoArt For this painting, I tried to create an imaginary scene from a simple geometric drawing. I’m fascinated by the math of it all. Brushes: 1” hake, 6 round, and a small rigger. Colors: Cobalt Teal, Ultramarine Blue, Burnt Sienna, and a tiny amount of Payne’s Grey. Anyway, this was my fun for today. Enjoy! @WatercolourCurator
#watercolor #watercolour #painting #art #MastoArt I had a little fun with this, practicing trees. Enjoy! Brushes: wash, 1, rigger. Colors: Ultramarine, Burnt Sienna, Raw Sienna.
#watercolor #watercolour #art #landscape #MastoArt I painted this for #MapCrunch20 and to practice painting foliage. I used a no. 6 for the sky, a no. 1 for the trees and land, and very diluted paint. Colors: Ultramarine, 2 yellows, one red. The brown is a mix of green and red.
#watercolor #watercolour #art #MastoArt I’ve been trying different methods for painting foliage. Here, I used a no. 1 brush, working in circular motions, alternately dipping in paint or dipping in water to produce deliberate back runs. Colors: Rich Green Gold alone or with Ultramarine or Cobalt Teal. I discovered that using a brush that’s too small gives me texture.
I’m just doodling today. I watched a video by Anastasia Mily in which she advocates painting the sky first, seeing what moods it evokes, and then planning your painting from that. Today’s weather was nasty, so I practiced with my sketching kit at home and came up with this. Colors: Cobalt Blue, Cobalt Teal, Quin Rose, Rich Green Gold, Ultramarine. Brushes: no. 1 quill, no. 2 round. The sketchbook is by Tumuarta. #watercolor #watercolour #art #MastoArt
