This post is largely aimed at anyone -- largely our longer-time followers -- for whom any of the below apply:
Follows us and finds our posts useful or enjoyable.
Caught any of our Twitch streams before we went on hiatus
Considers us a friend and misses hanging out.
We've been out of work since the beginning of May, and -- for a number of reasons -- we're facing the very-real risk of long-term unemployment
Whilst England technically has a benefits system, it's a particularly shitty one, and there's a very good chance that we'll be denied anything until we've depleted our limited savings
As such, we figure we need to start making content -- streams and videos -- to try to bring in some form of income and to try to keep our mood from spiralling, especially whilst we're currently acting as a primary carer for our wife.
We'd been wanting to get back to streaming games anyway, but we're thinking that we need to also generate some kind of video content. We're just not sure what folks would actually watch if we made it.
There are already plenty of trans+ and non-binary creators out there, producing a range of different content.
Some read memes (often alongside the epic OneTopic) or do silly skits.
e.g.,
Alice in Wonder1and
YukkoEx
AvaThroughFire
Others are doing high-quality videos covering a variety of topics, such as media analysis, current events, offering advice, or trying to inspire other trans+ and non-binary people:
Jamie Lotun-Raines
Lynn Saga
Jessie Gender After Dark
Hannah Phillips
Whilst we're AuDHD (which seems to be very common, especially among fem content creators and streamers), ours is technically combined type ADHD and leans towards inattentive. We lack the hyperactive ADHD manic energy that we often see in many popular trans+, non-binary, queer, and neurospicy folks.
We guess we don't know what content we'd enjoy making and that others would enjoying consuming.
We know a lot about DIY / homebrew HRT / GAHT, but we can't really do videos on that without breaching TOS on Twitch or YouTube and getting banned.
We talk a lot about mental health struggles, neurospicy topics, and our own transition, along with our issues with NHS England, but would people watch that?
It's not like we're pretty (like F1NN5TER or ICKY), particularly entertaining, have an amazing voice, or are particularly uplifting... at least in Evie's opinion. (Our headmate Hannah disagrees on at least some of these.)
Guess we'd at least give some plural representation, but we'd probably cause division there too, where we're a median system, which some folks do not consider to be a valid form of plurality 😞
Plus, as is probably evident from the above, we struggle a lot with imposter syndrome 😅🤦♀️
We are genuinely asking for thoughts and feedback here, but naturally we hope folks will be kind, even if they're not telling us anything optimistic. We prefer grounded realism over toxic positivity.
Also, just to clarify, by content creation we are not talking about OnlyFans 😅 (For reasons we won't go into, it's just not an option for us.)
