Hallo! I'm NAAN and I'm a Puerto Rican comicker! I love linguistics, languages and I follow the Mister Ed philosophy. I usually work on "Legendary Beings Ara & Celi," which is about a young girl, Miyara, chosen to become the successor to Ara, Angel of the Universe -- it's only too bad Miyara doesn't want the job or to do anything with Ara!

Things that let you know more about me: I (he/him) am #actuallyautistic, working in #FOSS for 20+ years, first at Red Hat, and now at AWS. I co-wrote an O'Reilly book on Raspberry Pi, but it's super dated now. I do lots of scary packaging in Fedora, and I was in charge of Fedora Legal for 15 years, so I geek out on FOSS licensing stuff. I work at being an ally every day, using the privilege I get from being cis-white-male in tech to lift others. I love #pinball, #travel, games (board, video, whatever), #hockey (go Bruins), puzzles, #frogs, #trivia, craft beer, #Transformers, 3d printing, science fiction, #comics, #LEGO, #cosplay (amateur), #dinosaurs, blue drinks, and taking things apart to understand how they work.

I'm introverted, but I can cosplay as an extrovert for a while when necessary. I love making new friends in FOSS communities and spending time with old friends over good food and drink.

My day dream on long days is to open my own barcade with a little movie theater and a hidden speakeasy.

I believe in sustainable FOSS and people > code.

Hi, I'm Jordan, and this is my #introduction. I'm a #xennial #nonbinary #Chicago area dad who does #Linux stuff for a living and for a hobby. I've worked lots of places, but the one you've probably heard of is #GitHub. I don't work there anymore. At one point in the past I wrote some articles for #LWN and I still write an occasional tech blog post or two.

Previous iterations of me have been a "gifted child," an #arcade rat, a #BBS kid, a fry cook, a #furry, a library assistant, a #comics nerd, a #goth, an art student, a delivery driver, and a PhD program dropout. Sadly, I am now too old and saddled with responsibility / glorious purpose to be cool with any regularity.

Politically, I would say that I lean pretty far to the left, but mostly I am too tired from parenting and living through a slow-motion apocalypse to think political thoughts much deeper than "please stop killing people and the planet."

I mostly read #scifi and a bit of #fantasy. Recent favorites include the #LockedTomb series by Tamsyn Muir, the #Wayfarers series by Becky Chambers, the #Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells, the #ImperialRadch series by Ann Leckie, and the #MachineriesOfEmpire by Yoon Ha Lee. I am a big #Dune nerd and have been known to make a lot of stupid Dune memes. My favorite band of all time is #GWAR and the band I saw most recently was #100gecs.

I'm trying to build a network of authors by entertaining you, and by sharing what I've learned through decades of doing it the hard way. My motto: There Shall Be Content! I want to help our writing community by helping authors overcome what keeps them from completing stories. I'm learning self-publishing as a business. I want to push back the loneliness that's part and parcel of this solitary profession.

If I reply to your post, I've definitely noticed something!

Hot Buttons: Feminist issues are a hot button for me. So are labor issues, where jobs are automated out of existence without figuring out how to provide former employees to support themselves. If you want to use #genAI, #chatGPT, or AI to replace writers or artists, or jobs, you're barking up the wrong tree, buster! I post those road apples under #theComingLaborApocalypse.
